Alex finally got his tooth fixed. They ended up doing a root canal and a couple fillings. I can't believe how well they did on his tooth though...it matches perfectly color-wise (I was expecting something a little whiter looking than his other tooth). Now, hopefully he won't bump that tooth hard, as it's not going to be as strong as a regular tooth. Since he can't tell us if anything is bothering him, he goes in for a follow-up dental appt in two weeks to make sure everything looks okay.
before

after (couldn't get a good straight-on smile out of him last night, so this'll have to do)

some other pictures from last night...he was really tired, and it was hard getting him to smile

Ben watching his dad and Alex from the front window.

Ben is having a hard time sharing daddy with Alex. Jeremy gives most of his attention to Alex while he's here, since we only get to see him a few hours a week. It's so hard to try to keep things "fair" for Ben. With Alex, we try so hard to make him smile and interact. We are always animated and smiley and go out of our way to make sure Alex gets things that will make him happy: baths, sprinkler, m&m's, etc. And while we let Ben play in the sprinkler and have some m&m's too, it's just not the same. No one goes to such great lengths to make Ben happy. If Ben gets a little whiny, he's expected to stop whining. No one whips out the candy to see if that'll make him stop being unhappy. It's just hard. And it breaks my heart to see Ben feel slighted. When Alex goes home, Ben and Jeremy do get time to play together...but on the weeknights that Alex visits, it's only about 45 min to an hour.
