well, hello tooth fairy

Ben lost his first tooth last night. Finally! I was flossing his teeth, and decided to try getting in under the tooth a bit, and pulled up and out it popped. Ben was absolutely delighted, amazed, excited and very relieved. He was in his room just giggling to himself as he fell asleep. My mom happened to be in town overnight visiting, so it was great timing.


The tooth fairy left him a note, and gave him five bucks. He woke up at 3:15am searching frantically for his little tooth pillow (the tooth fairy had put it on the side table along with her note). I told him the tooth fairy probably already came, but knew he wouldn't leave it alone until morning, so we turned on the night light and read her note and found the money, then went back to sleep.

But before all that happened, we spent the day with my mom at the coast. Ben had a lot of fun playing in the sand and water. We toured an old lighthouse. We ate lunch at a little cafe at Nye Beach (it was yummy!). Then we went into Corvallis for some shopping and home for dinner (turkey spaghetti and naan bread made into garlic bread, more yummy!). After that we walked down the park where the Art & Air Festival was going on...and got to see the night glow: hot air balloons all aglow.





Tonight we got to watch the festival's fireworks from the comfort of our driveway. Ben was so excited!
