Today we had respite so Jeremy, Ben and I decided we'd head up to Lake of the Woods, about a 45 minute drive from here. We got a nice picnic lunch packed, slathered on the sunscreen, stopped at Walmart for some bottled water, stopped at Costco for some gas and then we were on our way. It got cloudier and cloudier the higher we went in the moutains, until finally it was pouring. Ben was still excited to put his feet in the water, so we continued on...we could always eat in the car. Once we got to the lake, it was wet but no longer raining. Cool! We went to park the car, only to find out that they are now charging $7 to park! It used to be free, dang it!! We only had $3 cash on us, so we headed back home. Ben was in tears, but perked up a bit when he heard we'd be going to the mall to play. We ate our lunch in the car on the way back to town. Jeremy and I felt so bad about getting Ben's hopes up that we splurged and let him spend $2 at the arcade in the mall. Between the tickets he got from Skee Ball, the ones that we found hanging out of the machines and the ones some teenagers gave us, Ben was able to get a large bouncy ball that looked like and eye, and a piece of candy. All was right in his world again. Ben really sucks at skee ball by the way. A lot.
