Tonight we had a BBQ and invited some friends over. It was fun. I can't believe we're getting all social right before we're set to move. Sniff, sniff. With Alex, it was really hard to invite anyone over. At best, one of us would be helping with Alex and not getting to visit and at worst, Alex would be crying and hitting and snotting on our company's food (yes, that happened once). We've had some new friends over twice for dinner (and ate at their house once), Ben's party, this BBQ...it's really fun to have some friends finally. I had made friends with several women who have kids with autism/special needs...but it's just not the same. The kids had such different needs (one didn't like loud sounds, so being around Alex was out and Alex was too destructive to take to their homes), us moms were always busy and worn out...it was still so hard to foster a relationship. Things would come up at the last minute and we'd have to back out (which happened to two of my friends that were invited for this evening...they were just too exhausted by 5pm to make it over). I hadn't realized how isolating it was.
Jeremy has only 3.5 more days at MF, and then it's on to OSU. He's so excited he's already packed up his computer.
