Wednesday Alex came for a visit, and we hardly recognized him. He was very mellow...to the point where it was our natural instinct to wonder if he was seriously ill. Even when he's been sick with a cold or fever, he's always on the go (a drooling, miserable mess...but on the go nonetheless). Wednesday he was doing much less wandering around. The times he was on the go, was for a purpose - the kitchen for more food, upstairs to jump in the bath (again...and again...and again), or to the front door to go outside for a walk. In between these, he was content to sit. Sit!! He curled up of the sofa for awhile, he rocked in the glider, he spun on my computer chair. He does seem overall more sleepy/wiped out, but that hasn't affected his walking around in the past. I'm hoping he's getting some sort of relief from the rapamycin already. If not, then I'm just happy that he's listening to his body and resting more. It's always been a problem in the past when he's been sick, getting him to rest. Anyway, I choose to believe the medicine is making a positive change. So there! (Just so long as he doesn't get all out lethargic on us....)
Alex developed a bump on his head at the beginning of last week. It was huge, and flatish. It wasn't like a knot, which pops out rather far, but a firm, slightly raised swelling that was about 2-3 inches in diameter - which is most of his head. He'd hit his head at school the week prior to the swelling, requiring some glue on the part that was lacerated. However, he never got any swelling or bruising associated with it at the time. It took a week to see this swelling, and the dr said it wasn't an infection or anything relating to the previous injury. Odd. Anyway, it looks like it's gone down a lot...but it's still there. There's no pus, no redness or bruising, he has no fever. It's just odd. So, they shaved his head down to keep an eye on things.
A week in to the new med, and no real changes in his facial involvement (not that I was expecting any so soon!). Here's my boy from Wednesday's visit:
