goggles and gardens

Ben spent half the morning wearing his swim goggles. Couldn't help but to take pictures of him...I love 5 year olds! These (plus the ones of him climbing the door frame naked) might have to go in the blackmail folder for later.

A break for Kix (he was saying, "Okay, stop picturing me now!")

Ben is so excited that our tomatoes are starting to grow (so am I!). This is one of about a dozen that I can see...and there are plenty more blossoms.

This little lettuce plant came home in Alex's backpack for Mother's Day. I didn't think it would survive, but it's been really happy on my kitchen window sill. I just had to put it outside because a large family of gnats had taken up residence in the soil (gross)....and it's loving life even more outdoors. We really could use about 5 more lettuce plants (or spinach, yum), but this one has been great for the occasional leaf for hamburgers or sandwiches.

Alex has surprisingly left them alone....so I'm hopeful I can get some strawberries next summer too.
